A former PR manager at Fabric and Minus, Dean Driscoll has been involved in the electronic music scene for nearly a decade. Since forming the house & disco DJ duo Disco&Mercy with his former housemate Doug Kerr in 2008, the pair played regularly around a variety of London clubs in addition to sets at UK festivals and Ibiza.
After moving to Berlin to become Richie Hawtin’s publicist in 2010, he began DJing regularly in his new hometown and in January 2012 began his own radio Disco&Mercy radio show, broadcast twice a month on Digitally Imported Radio and Pulseradio.net, featuring guest mixes from Spencer Parker, Qzen and Twen FM’s own Dana Ruh.
This set’s an hour section of seven I ended up playing at Richie Hawtin’s ENTER.MINUS shop at Sonar 2012 in Barcelona. It was my fifth trip to Sonar and my second with the Minus team, who had their shop space at Miscelanea for the 3rd year running, in addition to the second secret Richie Hawtin fruit stall DJ set at the Boqueria market and a beach party on the Sunday evening – all of which were free to attend. As with the previous year I was super proud to be involved with Richie and the Minus team – the ambition and hard work of everybody involved to do things that are fun and unique is really inspiring to be around. I was lucky enough to play in the bar of the Minus shop on all three days – this set is from the Saturday evening: it’s quite relaxed and deep, with a bunch of new tracks I’m playing out regularly at the moment sprinkled with some older favourites I hadn’t played in a while (Jesse Rose – Evening Standard; Worst Case Scenario – Hot Beef).
Daniel Bortz – I Am Looking (LoSoul remix)
Cosmic Belt – Do You Feel Alright (Cosmic Belt Hacienda dub)
Jesse Rose – Evening Standard
Worst Case Scenario – Hot Beef
Fresh & Low – New Life
Delano Smith – Wires
Jack Dixon & Robin Card – Leave (James Fox remix)
DJ Emanuel – Untitled A2
Sascha Dive – Underground Railroad (Willie Graff & Tuccillo)
Roman Flügel – Girl With Status
Petr Serkin – Flood I
